Consulate Sponsors American Art Exhibit
US Consulate General Dhahran, in partnership with Ibda’a Arts Center in Qatif, sponsored the “Picturing America” exhibit on June 13-14. On Saturday, June 13, Consul General Joseph Kenny officially opened the exhibit. Consul General Kenny began his remarks by welcoming the guests and arts lovers in attendance and thanked Mr. Abduladheem Al Dhamen of Ibda’a Arts Center for co-sponsoring the exhibit.
“Picturing America” is a collection of high-quality reproductions of notable American art that tells America’s story. The artistic heritage of America – paintings, sculpture, architecture, fine crafts, and photography – offer unique insights into the character, ideals, and aspirations of our country. Picturing America was designed to help its viewers gain a better understanding of American history and heritage. It explores significant events in US history, themes in US culture, and principles that define America, such as leadership, freedom and equality, democracy, courage, landscapes, and creativity and ingenuity.
During the official opening, guests toured the exhibit with Consul General Kenny, who provided background information and context on each piece of artwork displayed in the exhibit.
The “Picturing America” exhibit was open to the public on June 13-14, and attracted many visitors who appreciated America’s story being told through art.
